Currently Rena Poulsen Design is excited to be working in collaboration with UrbanLOGIC Inc. on a multi-residential development that will be a wonderful addition to the company’s portfolio. The developer wants this project to have a modern, sleek, open concept feel that evokes tranquility with soft beach glass and driftwood tones for the exterior and interior finishes. This project is situated very near the ocean and so we have designed the buildings to take full advantage of the beautiful beach views that this property has to offer. You will see how we will tie in the exterior architecture with the interior finishes and that the whole site will flow with continuity right down to the landscape design. This project is in the preliminary stages of design development, so we thought we would give you a sneak peek of the rough 3-D concept even though it is far from being complete. As a matter of fact, you will be surprised how much the design will evolve before the end product is finalized. We will be bringing you updates every step along the way so stay tuned to see for yourself.

This restaurant is one of over 80 McDonald’s projects I have worked on throughout the lower mainland, Vancouver Island, the interior of British Columbia and other provinces across Canada. The contemporary design concept of this McDonald’s Restaurant project was inspired by some of the architectural exterior details of this multi-use condominium and retail development. The selection of natural materials such as slate and wood carry the exterior detailing through to the interior and make it an inviting comfortable space to enjoy. This photo of the fireplace feature showcases the direction the company is incorporating into their new, more updated restaurants. Green slate and frosted glass panels that incase dried tree branches serves as a back drop to this more lounge like area of the restaurant.

The use of this bold and confident colour scheme makes for a delightful inviting environment. People are so attracted to colour and it is apparent from the clothes that they wear to the flowers they arrange. It always makes people feel happy and so it would be great if more people could adopt their love of colour and have it translated to their personal spaces to enjoy. Please watch our video

This project was a complete renovation of a seventies architecturally designed home that had all the original seventies finishes including wall to wall shag wool carpeting and lava rock fireplace. A complete overhaul was needed that included all the interior finishes as well as all the furnishings and window treatments to update this home which had wonderful potential since the house had great architectural ‘bones’. Among some of the changes the feature fireplace wall was sheathed in drywall and a new contemporary fireplace surround was designed to transform this room. A custom metal and slate coffee table at the center of the room are just some of the finishing details that round out the welcoming space which are also mirrored in the custom bar stools and hand railing. Although the interior renovation of this home was designed around a decade ago, it illustrates that the design is still relevant today and that it is possible to have a design that has longevity.
